Tired of clicking the items in your inventory in Dota? Having your items hotkeyed in Dota will make it a lot easier to use the them, you will be astonished. Its really annoying that there is no built in function to have Dota hotkeys.
Dota Hotkeys – Why?
Ever felt frustrated in Dota when you haven’t been able to use some of your items fast enough? You know the time when you were about to land a killing blow on an enemy when you were really low.. But the time it took you to CLICK your Sheepstick got you killed. Or the time when you got stunned just the second before you were able to CLICK your Lothar’s Edge. OR the time you didn’t manage to dodge the incoming stun with your dagger. Imagine being able to have hotkeys for your inventory items as well as your heros real spells and abilities. That would make the use of your inventory items MUCH faster and would make all those mishappenings never happen again. Get ready for Dota Hoktkeys!
Dota hotkeys – bind my inventory!
There is a solution for all this, the solution is called Dota Hotkeys. Dota Hotkeys is a small program that will let you customize all you hotkeys in Dota! It’s very simple to use and you will love it the very first time you try it out. I will show you ho to setup Dota Hotkeys, just follow along.
- Download this archive Extract it into your WC3 root folder ex. C:\
Program Files\WarCraft III:
- Make sure that CustomKeys.txt and DCGExtensionScript2.2.exe(can be placed anywhere, but to make it simple put it in your WC3 folder) is in the folder.
- Start DCGExtensionScript2.2.exe, if you didn’t put your CustomKeys.txt in the right folder the program will tell you that it can’t find any hotkey-file. When the program is runnig you will see its icon in your taskbar.
- Start WC3 the way you normally do, enter Options->Gameplay Activate “Custom Keyboard Shortcuts”
- Enter a Dota game, press f5 to activate the script.
Your 1-6 keys will now be bound to your inventory. Key 1 = upper left slot, key 2 = upper right, key 3 = middle row left slot and sofort.

This list contains 41 Dota items which by default has no real hotkey in Dota, numpad keys doesn’t count.
